Iwataya Japanese Restaurant
In 2001, creating and building the first authentic Japanese restaurant in the Evansville area was both an opportunity and a challenge. Many people in the area had never experienced true Japanese cuisine. With the construction of a new Toyota manufacturing plant close by, the market for this type of cuisine was expected to grow. This design reflects traditional Japanese and contemporary elements.
This project was particularly fun for me. Along with five retired carpenters, I set up a wood shop and together we built all of the interior woodwork.
